Hotel for magical holidays by the sea
in Venetico Marina
Organizing a holiday in Venetico Marina and its surroundings means also being carried back in time.
The two towns of Venetico and Spadafora witness the feudal presence of the Spadafora family in a vast territory once called “Il Feudo dei Feudi“. In fact, we find the remains of the Castello di Venetico, partly damaged by the earthquake of 1908, and the Castello di Spadafora, which is home to cultural events. In the XIII century the territory was given to the brothers Simone and Raìnero de Venetico. Dating back to the 16th century, in the square in front of the church of San Nicola, there is a monumental fountain. It is surmounted by a small statue of a mermaid and shows the coat of arms of the Spadafora family. The Castle was built in the second half of the fifteenth century by the Spadafora. It was damaged by the earthquake that struck Messina in 1908. You can also visit: the Church of Sant’Anna, in Venetico Superiore and a baroque style church dating back to 1662, Immacolata, in Venetico Superiore.
At the center of Spadafora stands the homonymous Castle, which dates back to the second half of the fifteenth century. Originally, it was only a tower, then expanded around the 16th century, becoming a real castle. Today only the central part remains and represents the most important artistic and cultural heritage of Spadafora.
Also worth visiting is the Church of San Giuseppe, built around the end of the 16th century to be the family chapel of the Spadafora Princes.
The new promenade is well finishes and is ideal for those who love walking while enjoying beautiful marine landscapes.
Having a holiday in Venetico Marina does mean beaches and crystal clear sea. But tt also means to discover the ancient and glorious history of the land of Sicily.
